Abbey in Cluny pt5

by joshlarsen Email

Both buildings (the biggest parts of this scene!) are done now. I think I will remodel the chimneys on the building in the foreground. I added some texture detail, but they are still too plain and have too much on the skyline to not have a model to match the textures.

Trees need some work and the terrain needs to be completed. I will probably model sidewalks and parkbenches and use vue to texture/fill the grassy area and perhaps even little pepples in the foreground where the grass blends onto the sidewalk. We'll see.

Tower modeled and the second tower is complete as well. Everything is in position so now I need to focus on textures for the towers, the chimneys need some details added and the trees need to be actually modeled and not just gumdrops in the scene (maybe I will use a vue tree and save the effort). Then the terrain textures/models and a park bench or two. Then I should be ready to start setting up my render scene.

Geocontrol + Vue

by joshlarsen Email

I have been messing around with Geocontrol (http://www.geocontrol2.com/e_index.htm) and pulling the heighmaps into Vue for rendering/texturing.

Pretty simple workflow. I create my terrain in geocontrol and export a bmp heighmap. In Vue I create a terrain and reset it, then load the bmp heighmap. This example is a 4096x map :>
